It will take the attendees through an explanation of what is a Bufferpool and the BP tuning process from gathering data to actioning recommendations and comparing results as well as showing how you can easily and simply manage all of these complex beasts using state-of-the-art rules and Zowe graphics to enable a truly modern experience.

Understand, manage and love certificates in z/OS and USS, will address distributed Db2 access. You can communicate with z/OS, USS, Db2, or any other server or service via “postcards”, or “sealed envelopes”. Even within a trusted network, unencrypted postcard communication isn’t state of the art and may compromise information you don’t intend to share.
Web-based solutions, like ZOWE, UMS, ADF,… require secure connections, but the setup can be frustrating. Setting up and using encrypted channels isn’t rocket science, but they’re all based on certificates that some people find difficult to manage.
This session sheds light on secure communication and their implementation in z/OS and USS services. I’ll explain how secure communication is set up, established and managed, as well as understanding difficulties that may arise.
Learn everything you need to know about TLS, SSL and the mechanisms of HTTPs, FTPs, sFTP, s/MIME, … communication. Understand different types of certificates and their repositories, like KEYSTOREs, TRUSTSTOREs and KEYRINGs. And, last but not least – who do you trust, who is trustworthy and why.

Stricter government regulations for Data Protection, Monitoring and Auditing require even more vigilance for the CSO, not only to control prohibited access, but also database activities of authorized entities to do their jobs. Beside the organizational issues, cost based challenges should be in focus: Is this 360° solution achieved CPU friendly (e.g. z/OS OPx buffer technology) ? Are reports and audit preparation based on IBM GUI standards (Eclipse, Zowe) ? Is used technology IBM compliant or Vendor specific (Code or appliances) ?

In this presentation Roy will delve into FTB/FIT, Spatial Indexes, Regular Expressions, Clone tables and Scrollable cursors. All of these could be called esoteric as most shops do not use or even know of their existence! I would hope that after this presentation the viewers will have learned something new about Db2 and perhaps could use one or more of these esoteric functions so that it becomes „well known“ function and not a hidden gem!
